About the Artist

I’m John Finnell, a collage artist working under the name Sundry Sullen for the past two decades. I live in Oceanside, CA, where I practice holistic medicine.

Before that, I worked professionally as a graphic designer, spent my teenage years in the punk scene, founded an international artist collective called WAFA, and traveled internationally working on sustainable farms. Buddhist meditation has also been an integral part of my life over last 20 years.

I like to work intuitively with vintage and contemporary imagery, discovering unexpected visual relationships where beauty and grit, order and chaos, and self and no-self can coexist.
